About Me
Hello, I’m Francisco! I love dogs, tea, Ireland’s Antrim Coast, and helping people in their endeavors to think higher and feel deeper. I am currently interning with NBC's Meet the Press and studying International Affairs at the George Washington University.
Though my interests in cultural exchange, history, and political science could lead me to many long-term careers, right now I work primarily as an independent reporter and columnist. Though they are labled “opinion”, my op-eds - as featured in The Baltimore Sun, The Tennessean, etc - focus on analyzing problems rather than taking strong stands. In the occasional piece where I am actively trying to persuade, I take care to state that such a goal is secondary to my objective of generating a public discourse on the subject.
I’ve studied, worked, and lived in three different countries outside of the US:
The People’s Republic of China: Studying Mandarin Chinese at Xiamen University with the State Department’s National Security Language Initiative for Youth, Summer 2019.
Northern Ireland: Studying peace at Queen’s University Belfast with the George Washington University Global Bachelor’s Program, Fall 2021. I took a side trip to Glasgow, Scotland to report on the UN Climate Change Conference COP26. Chile: Studying at the Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile, Spring 2022.
